Before he was sent to Afghanistan, First Lieutenant Jake Osbore found out that his wife was going to have a baby. It broke the father-to-be’s heart to know that he wouldn’t be able to take care of his wife during the pregnancy.
The soldier found out that he might not even be able to make it home in time for the birth once he was sent away. There were nine months of hard work, but on May 12, Osborne’s boss told him to leave. In order for him to meet his new baby, they gave him time off to go home.

Even though he was flying home when his daughter was born, his family made sure to record the beautiful moment he finally got to meet her at the Athens Regional Health System Medical Center.

“I turned the corner… and stopped at the door.” I had nothing to say. “I was laughing like a schoolgirl,” Osborne said of the first time he saw his child. “It felt real, like nothing I’ve ever felt before.”Awe fills his heart when he finally holds the baby.

His family watched as they all shed happy tears.Mom and child are both healthy. Good luck to the new parents! We already know this baby will be very spoiled.
