It was an immense surprise, not only for the medical professionals but also for the parents, Cary and Tim Patonai, when after nearly giving up on expanding their family, the proud mother gave birth to a child weighing 6.4 kilograms. Finley instantly gained fame moments after his arrival, as his sisters couldn’t resist capturing a selfie or two with him. The family rejoiced in the arrival of such a remarkable child, but their journey to this point had been fraught with challenges. Cary endured a total of 19 miscarriages, including 17 abortions before the birth of their first child, and two more before Finley.

“Two of the miscarriages were twin pairs. It was a tremendous trauma for the whole family, especially our older child, Devlen. Every single loss broke her little heart,” shared Mom.

However, the Patonais believed that instead of succumbing to grief, it was better to elevate their sorrow to joy and eventually reap the rewarding outcome. Cary’s pregnancy journey was not without its difficulties; by the 34th week, the baby had already gained 5 kilograms, necessitating careful monitoring and no leisurely strolls.
