Newborn babies often appear less attractive than their parents had imagined. This is due to the prolonged exposure to the amniotic fluid environment, resulting in wrinkled skin, embryonic fat covering the body, and a misshapen head due to compression during the birthing process.
However, as rare as it may be, some babies surprise their mothers with their unique appearance. Such was the case with a boy who astonished his mother with his unusual skin color.
“I gave birth by caesarean section, and after the birth, the doctor examined the baby to ensure everything was normal. But when I returned from the recovery room, I was surprised to see that the baby’s skin was not the usual pink but rather blackish-purple,” recalled the mother.
The mother’s psyche was thrown into confusion and worry, fearing potential health problems for her newborn. The doctor ordered blood tests to determine the cause, leaving the mother restless until receiving the reassuring news that the baby was healthy.
With the knowledge that her baby was fine, the mother found it somewhat amusing that he had been as dark as Bao Cong. The family, too, was bewildered by the baby’s appearance. However, the baby’s skin gradually lightened over the following days, becoming fairer until, by 22 months old, he had skin as white as a dumpling.
Sharing pictures of her children on social media, the mother discovered that many babies are born with dark or purple skin. Unfortunately, some children with such symptoms have underlying brain diseases and require physical therapy. Fortunately, for Chau’s family, baby Louis only had a skin condition that did not affect his nerves or mobility.
